I went downstairs with Nova yesterday morning, just before 8:00, so she could go out to relieve herself.
BUT, unfortunately, things went wrong when I tried to let her out through the garden door. I lost my balance and hit the paved ground. I braced myself with my left hand, and the impact traveled all the way up my arm.
Years ago, I fractured my left elbow, and it can still give me trouble from time to time. I occasionally develop inflammation, though it usually clears up quite quickly.
This time, however, my arm and hand swelled up severely, leaving me unable to use them, and the pain was excruciating. I also banged my right knee—though not as badly.
Nova became very alert; she sensed that something was wrong and sat waiting in the hallway. My husband and son quickly arrived and took over looking after Nova, while I had to tend to my injuries.
It was a rough night because of the pain in my arm, though I did manage to get some sleep. My son took care of Nova, as she still can’t hold it through the entire night.
Things are better today, but I’m still sore and bruised. I’ve ended up with a large hematoma in the palm of my hand, though the arm itself is doing a bit better.
It’s quite unfortunate, especially now that we have a little puppy to look after. It’s a good thing one of our sons still lives at home; he’s been a great help while his father is at work.
