The Puzzle Shed

by

We are a cozy place out in the countryside, with a small rural shop and adjacent to it also a barn where you can buy puzzles.

Vafler/Waffles

by

I have acquired a new waffle iron. Here in the family, waffles are something we like – and there are many ways to use them.

I am really satisfied with the new waffle iron – which is from the brand Wilfa.
The recipe is
75 g. melted butter
230 g flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
60 g of sugar
1-2 teaspoons of vanilla
1 teaspoon cardamom
a little salt
3 dl milk
2 eggs

whisk milk and eggs together and mix in all the dry ingredients – use a hand mixer and stir in the melted butter at the end.
Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
Heat up your waffle iron and bake the good waffles until they are golden and crispy.
I got 13 waffles out of this batch.
Serve with vanilla ice cream, maple syrup, powdered sugar, or melted chocolate.

This time of year

by

Those who have followed my blog probably know that I suffer from arthritis in my hands, arms and shoulders. Besides that, it is also in my feet, knees and hips, as well as the lower part of my back.
Now autumn has arrived and winter is around the corner, so I am once again sent to count, as my arthritis symptoms worsen at this time of year. Therefore, it is uncertain how much I can use my hands in the coming time. My gloves with built-in heat have been found and are ready to keep my hands supple when the pain takes over.
In between I hope to do a little puzzle, because it is also important to keep my hands and fingers busy, even if it will hurt.
Today it’s really autumn-like here in Denmark, so after a walk with Darwin, I made a good cup of tea. It also does wonders for the mind.
I’m just going to make a single smaller Christmas puzzle – and then I’ve bought myself a puzzle calendar that I can have fun with in December.

recycling puzzle

by

Today I drove a whole sack full of puzzles away for recycling. And I have several that I have to get rid of as I don’t want to have them anymore. I hope that others can find joy in them.
My taste in puzzles has changed and next year I don’t have so many plans for what I want in that direction.
Next week I will also be sending off several puzzles for recycling

Another reason why I do it is also that the space for the puzzles becomes smaller. It is limited how many I have room for.
Many of the puzzles are old – some of them I’ve done several times and now it’s not so much fun anymore.
My tastes have also changed, so I’m looking forward to having more space for the puzzles that will find their way to me.
Next year, there probably won’t be quite as many on my board, but those that do I will enjoy extra

Here comes the rain

by

My last autumn puzzle for this time.
1000 pieces – from the Danish brand Vissevasse
Here comes the rain
This puzzle was a little more demanding than expected – especially the tree and the many flying leaves teased me.
Besides that, it’s definitely not the last Vissevasse I’ve made – I’m more than satisfied with the very flat looking puzzle it has.

Little — minipuzzle

by

These small relaxing puzzles with 150 pieces come from the Danish brand Vissevasse.
Little bakery – Little florist – Little garden -Little cafe.

Right now, I don’t bother with the big, extensive 1000-piece puzzles – so I’ve thrown myself at something a little smaller.

For the next time, my puzzles will contain up to 500 pieces – so we’ll see what the new year brings that way.

Christmas is coming – and I have already put 2 Christmas puzzles  together, the first i april – the 2. i september – there will be another 2 – so that together they will form every Sunday in Advent.

Last – I still have 1 autumn puzzle 1000 pieces – it will soon be on display here.

Stay tuned.

Cozy Cottage (puzzle)

by

I bought this puzzle last year during Christmas – but have only done it now. It fits very well with the fact that autumn is now upon us.
Cozy Cottage is illustrated by Dutch artist Esther Bennink. I bought mine at the puzzle shop in Helsingør – but you can order these fine puzzles directly from Esther Bennink, who has her own webshop.
The pieces are very nice to work with – but the somewhat dark colors teased me sometimes.

Autumn Cottage (Trevell)

by

Autumn Cottage – 1000 pieces, designed by Nicolle Lalonde.
This puzzle has some good pieces – but they are VERY dull and thus quite difficult to see through. The light falls in such a stupid way and therefore it gives some reflections that make it difficult to see where the piece should be. This puzzle is in the dark end and therefore even harder to put together.
Basically, I liked the pieces – but I don’t want such a dark motif from Trevell again.
I completed it and it took 9 days to do which is a bit longer than usual when I lay puzzles.
